JESSICA'S PERSPECTIVE
Sam and I matched with each other on Hinge in July of 2024. I was charmed by Sam's humor and wit over text, and met with him that same week at a coffee shop in Santa Clara. A quick date on Sam's lunch break turned into a second date the following week, then a third, a fourth—countless picnics, movies, morning coffees, and our favorite— mall dates.
Sam takes all of my goals seriously, even when they are as silly as wanting to try every month's Salt and Straw flavors at Valley Fair. What started as a silly goal has become one of my favorite traditions with Sam. :)
What I found most attractive about Sam is his consistency, his goofiness, his convictions, his clear intentions, and his smile (his biggest strength according to his Hinge profile).
Our shared love of niche 2000s YouTube comedy and Costco hot dogs has led to a relationship built on boisterous laughter and secret inside jokes.
More than just fun, our shared faith has been the biggest blessing in our relationship. We credit God for the love we have for one another and the clarity He has provided to choose each other as our life partner.
I am excited and truly overjoyed to marry Sam and am so grateful to share our love with all the most important and influential people in our lives.
SAM'S PERSPECTIVE
It all started on Hinge (modern love story, I know). We met for coffee in July 2024, and even though I had to rush home for a meeting right after, I left knowing I wanted to see Jessica again.
What immediately stood out to me was how much she cared about finding someone whose faith and values aligned with hers—and how funny she was. Pretty soon, I realized how much our humor lined up too.
Our relationship grew through consistency and intentionality. Consistency in seeing each other and spending quality time—like our Tuesday morning meetups before work to catch up and pray. And intentionality in not shying away from the harder conversations about dating, marriage, and what it really means to love someone well.
Some of my favorite moments with Jessica: our day trips to Vegas and Disneyland, thinking her students outside her classroom were being cute but were actually copying homework, watching her senior class set up for homecoming, eating hot dogs together at Costco, laughing uncontrollably at Din Ding after she made a huge mess, and discovering that we somehow text the same thing at the same time way too often.
After a year of dating—and a lot of prayer—I asked her to marry me after a picnic dinner in a totally not sketchy park, with lion dancers practicing nearby. She said yes, and I still can't believe I get to marry her.
Above all, I'm so thankful to God for bringing us together. Every step of our story has been a reminder of His kindness and grace. As we look ahead to marriage, we're excited to keep growing in love toward one another and to enjoy God even more deeply together.
